pito-pito

I’ve been tagged, I feel a bit too old for this kind of things, pero akala ko lang siguro iyon, kaya salamat kay ‘ate’ BING, (nye-he-he) for making me realize that.

It is my belief that music has the capacity to influence and most of the times alter someone’s mood, thoughts and even temper. And like most of us, music has been my refuge, kahit hindi ako marunong kumanta.

Here is a random list of seven songs I have in mind right now.

1. Fire and rain – by James Taylor
“I've seen fire and I've seen rain
I've seen sunny days that I thought would never end
I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend
But I always thought that I'd see you again”

– I’ am a big James Taylor fan, he sings about love and hope in this song… love and hope is what I get.

2. On an on – by Stephen Bishop
“Poor ol' Jimmy sits alone in the moonlight
Saw his woman kiss another man
So he takes a ladder, steals the stars from the sky
Puts on Sinatra and starts to cry”

Makes me ask myself, “baket siya?…bakeeeet!?”

3. Inuman Na – Parokya ni Edgar
“la la la la la la lasing...
la la la la la la lasing...”
– need I say… sing more? Hik!

4. Overjoyed – by Stevie Wonder
“And though the odds say improbable
What do they know
For in romance
All true love needs is a chance
And maybe with a chance you will find
You too like I
OverjoyedOver loved
Over you”
– I had the once in a lifetime chance to experience Mr. Stevie Wonder perform this song live and in person. Truly I was overjoyed.

5. Farewell – by Raymond Lauchengco
“Farewell to you my friends We'll see each other again
Don't cry 'cause it's not the end of everything
I may be miles away But here is where my heart will stay
With you, my friends with you”
– a promise to a friend. This song really brings back a lot of memories, ito na yata yung theme song ng lahat high school graduates during the “bagets era”. I still remember the smiles, the big bear hugs and the endless goodbyes… we were absolutely crazy.

6. Kaleidoscope World – by Francis Magalona
“Every color and every hue Is represented by me and you
Take a slide in the slope Take a look in the kaleidoscope
Spin it around and make a twirl
In this kaleidoscope world”
– a lot of my colleagues asks, “ano ka bagets?” whenever I told them that “the man from manila” is one of my faves. Well this song just confirmed that I have been influenced by the “Bagets Era” a lot. Aside from Francis M being a good performer this song is really great. Ang kumontra panget! Nye-hehehe!

7. Ngayon Lang – by Akzento Band

Sa lahat ng gusto ko
Dito sa ibabaw ng mundo
Ay ikaw aking mahal

Alam kong di ka kagandahan
Pero nasa ‘yo ang hanap kong katangian
Malaking syudad at maliit na bayan
Ang akin nang napuntahan
Marami na rin akong naranasan

Ngunit bakit
Di mawaglit sa isip

Oh, anong ganda mo
Araw-araw kitang naaalala, bawat minuto’y naiisip kita
Ako na ang pinakamaligaya kapag kapiling kita

Pag-ibig ko ngayo’y ay narito
Naririto para sa iyo
Handang magpakasakit

If I have been forced to list 8 of my my favorite songs I would have included “Otso-Otso” (ok, you can pretend you don’t know the song). Anyways I think it’s my turn to obligate 7 musical people to do the same. I hope you guys wont mind. RACHEL, KA ATOY, BAKYA NI NENENG, WILDFIRE, PAO, VOLTA and DOPS name those 7 songs.

Cheers!

The Old Hometown looks the same as i step down from the train

@ donya neneng:

@ darlene:
i still remeber the concert, it was really like magic when i heard that song being performed by stevie wonder himself. and imagine my surprise when the all-filipino 'manila philharmonic orchestra' dramatically appears from the background. talagang tumayo ang pati buhok ko sa ilong. i wont forget the sound of the violins blending perfectly with stevie wonders voice.

overjoyed for three days! thats great. cheers!

cheers!
